The country will host the 2024 Summer Olympics and, with it, the women's football tournament.
The appointment of Emma Hayes as head coach of the U.S. women's national team has generated a lot of buzz ahead of this summer's women's Olympic soccer tournament, and Hayes is hoping to get off to a good start.
Canada won gold in Tokyo three years ago, but given the team in this year's tournament, it will be tough to repeat that success in Paris in 2024.
Only 12 nations will take part in the tournament, and it's expected to be tough as it's a senior tournament rather than an under-23 men's competition, with a highly competitive line-up that includes World Cup winners Spain, South American title holders Brazil and defending gold medallists Canada.
One of the teams not taking part in the tournament is England, currently second in the FIFA rankings and runners-up at the 2023 World Cup, who missed out on qualifying for the Olympics despite strong performances.

The women's soccer tournament at the Paris Olympics begins with group stage matches. July 25The quarter-finals will mark the kick-off of the knockout stage. August 3.
The final will be held in Paris. August 10The day after the bronze medal match.

List of women's soccer teams for the 2024 Olympics
Twelve nations will compete in the women's football tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Each confederation, except Oceania, will be given two qualifying spots.
Africa was the last federation to complete its qualification process in early April, with Zambia and Nigeria securing qualification ahead of Morocco and South Africa.

2024 Olympic Women's Football Schedule, Matches
The 2024 Olympic women's football competition will feature 12 teams divided into three groups of four. The top two teams from each group, as well as the best two third-placed teams, will automatically advance to a final tournament of eight teams.
Defending gold medallists Canada are in Group A with hosts France. The United States is in the same group as European powerhouses Germany and the Australian Matildas. Group C is also expected to be exciting, with World Cup champions Spain taking on Japan and Brazil.
