Sam Hart is returning home after three seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
On Friday, the Aurora University junior announced he has committed to Colorado for the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders.
Hart, a 2021 graduate of Cherokee Trail High School, was a four-star recruit ranked as the third-best prospect in the state by 247Sports.
The 2021 class was loaded with local tight ends, with four of the top six prospects in the state playing tight end. That list included Eric Olsen (ranked No. 4), who signed with CU, as well as Terrence Ferguson (No. 1 Oregon State) and Gunnar Helm (No. 6 Texas State).
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Hart is still searching for his first college catch and hopes to make it happen with the Buffs. He has two years of eligibility left.
Hart did not appear in a game for the Buckeyes in 2021 and 2023, but appeared in five games in 2022.
At Cherokee Trail, he caught 51 passes for 796 yards and seven touchdowns over the past two seasons. He also played defensive end.
In wrestling, Hart was a Class 5A state champion at 220 pounds in 2020 as a junior and a runner-up at 220 pounds in 2019. He went 77-7 over those two years, including 38-0 as a junior. Because he enrolled at Ohio State early, he never wrestled as a senior.
Adding Hurts gives the Buffs even more experience in a rebuilt tight end room.
Over the winter, the Buffs added Shamon Metayer, a transfer from Cincinnati, who caught 23 passes for the Bearcats last year. CU also moved two defensive players to tight end, Morgan Pearson and Savell Smalls.
