Now in its 16th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the best achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous school year. In 2023-24, more than half of Boston University's teams have won a conference title or been runners-up in the league championship, and all of those programs will be reflected in the countdown. Ranked third in this year's Terrier Twelve was men's soccer, which returned to the NCAA Tournament after sweeping the Patriot League regular-season and tournament titles for the first time. BU also won multiple major year-end awards from its conference, including earning All-America honors for the first time in 18 years.
Led by PL Manager of the Year Kevin NylenThe Terriers posted a 12-4-4 record and 7-1-1 conference record to finish in the top 100 nationally in 13 NCAA statistical categories, including 28th in team goals against average (.900) and 68th in scoring attack (1.55). They also posted an 8-0-2 record at Nickerson Field to become the first team to go undefeated at home since 1994 and clinch the title en route to the program's 16th NCAA appearance overall. BU last appeared in the NCAAs in 2015 and last won a PL regular-season title in 2014.
Both are senior goalkeepers. Francesco Montali Graduate Student Defender Griffin Roach He repeatedly won the Patriot League's major award, helping BU shut out both Colgate and Lafayette to hoist the conference tournament trophy for the first time since winning the America East title in 2008. Montali, who ranks 11th with eight total solo shutouts, was selected in the third round of the Major League Soccer draft, while Roach was College Football News All-America third team honors.
On the other side of the field, Senior Eitan Rosen With 10 goals and 22 points, he won both the Premier League Tournament MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards, the Terrier's best mark since 2009. Two of his highlights were the game-winning goal in the title game against Lafayette and his first goal in the NCAA opener against defending champion Syracuse. Colin Innes He was named to the All-Region First Team along with Montali, Roach and Rosen after finishing with a team-high eight assists, the most for the Terriers since 2012.
At BU, he earned a 3.41 GPA in the fall semester and excelled in classwork, earning eight points and being named All-PL twice. Quinn Matulis They became the first Terrier players to be named PL Scholar of the Year since 2014. For their academic and athletic success, Montali and Roach also earned the program's first United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America awards.
