Georgia football wide receiver Lara Thomas was arrested by Athens-Clarke County Police early Friday morning and charged with felony second-degree child abuse.
He was also charged with two counts of domestic violence assault, according to the Clark County Jail's online intake report.
Team officials said Friday afternoon that the senior has been suspended indefinitely.
According to a release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, police responded to a domestic violence call on Mill Creek Way at 1:34 a.m. Friday. Police said the domestic violence was directed at Thomas' child. Thomas was charged and booked into the Clark County Jail. Thomas was booked into jail at 3:20 a.m. and was still being held in the jail as of Friday afternoon.
A native of Eufaula, Alabama, Thomas appeared in 11 games at Georgia last season, recording 23 catches for 383 yards and one touchdown, and was expected to be one of the Bulldogs' top receivers this season. Thomas played the past two seasons at Mississippi State.

Thomas was previously charged by Georgia State Police on Jan. 23, 2023, with misdemeanor assault/domestic violence and felony false imprisonment.
He was placed in pretrial diversion on the assault/domestic violence charge and a false imprisonment charge was dismissed. Police say Thomas stood in front of the dorm room door, blocking the exit and telling the woman to leave, but his lawyers say there is insufficient evidence to support that claim.
The assault charges stem from the man causing bruising to the alleged victim's biceps and abrasions to her shins.
Thomas had to perform 40 hours of community service and complete anger management classes.
Stephen Drummond, the University of Georgia's associate athletic director for strategic communications, said about the incident on Friday, “This is an ongoing legal matter and we will not be making any further comment at this time.”
