Your fantasy football team never gets better than after the draft. It's full of stars, breakout candidates, and league-winning players. But even if your team is doing well before kickoff in Week 1, you still need to make sure you get that last bit done. important Step.
You need to name your team.
(Naming your fantasy football team is that Even though it is important that It's required, but I don't mind because it's required for me!
Yes, I am very picky about naming my team. very Seriously (I probably would win more championship rings if I spent less time thinking up team names and more time on my draft strategy, but hey, that's not the point here). Every time I join a new league, I immediately change my team name to “TBD” (to be determined) until it's time for the draft. Once I secure a first round player, I name my team something related to that player, or look for a combination of players to play around with names for.
(Here's an example: Last season I drafted Breece Hall mid-round. When it became clear he was going to play from the get-go, I renamed mine “Breathe Yourself.” It was both a fun team name and an intimidating one to my leaguemates.)
…I ended up in 9th place. That's life.
This is a quick way to come up with a name (and it's my superstitious way of hoping that one of my favorite draft picks will lead me to the promised land), but this is just how I do it. There are many different ways to name a team.
Here are some fantasy team name suggestions for 2024
Following the theme of player-driven names, below are some of the most unique, creative, and fun team names selected by the Yahoo Fantasy community.
When naming your team, what do you do with 30 characters?
“Bijan Mustard” and “To Infinity and Bijan”
Bijan Robinson appears to have the perfect first name (first or last name) to make a fantasy team around, and he's also one of the most exciting running backs for 2024 who will undoubtedly be selected in the first round.
Whether you prefer ketchup over mustard or Woody over Buzz, you have to admit that these names are pretty sweet.
“Slim Pickens”
This is one of those team names that I think is just perfect. Not only does it fit George Pickens' name perfectly, but it also matches up with the Steelers' entire current WR corps.
Outside of Pickens, it's unlikely any Steelers wide receivers will be selected in the draft this season. Admittedly, the options are slim.
“The more it hurts, the better it feels”
This is too simple, it's an example of how easy it is to come up with a catchy team name.
And there’s no question that Jalen Hurts will still be on your 2023 fantasy team, finishing second among quarterbacks in overall fantasy scoring.
“Sherlock Mahomes” and “Post-Mahomes”
Patrick Mahomes is perhaps the most recognizable name in the NFL right now, with casual fans and die-hard fans alike all too familiar with the quarterback god himself.
So it's no surprise that his name matches up with other notable names in pop culture — and that doesn't include variations on Mahomes' last name (e.g., “Hangin' with my Mahomies”).
“Pollard Express”
Polar Express It wasn't the greatest Christmas movie, but it wasn't a completely awful one either, and it sounds a lot like Tony Pollard's 2023 season.
Pollard didn't live up to expectations last season and his ADP didn't increase, so hopefully he'll have success in his new home with the Titans.
“Nakua Matata”
“Hakuna Matata” means “no worries,” and the fantasy manager who acquired Puka Nakua on waivers last season absolutely There was no worry.
Nacua was a game changer last season, making rookie history and dispelling the notion that wide receivers with league-winning potential don't go on the waiver list.
“Laporta Pottie”
Lolololol.
Arguably, drafting Sam Laporta last season would have given them a significant positional advantage over the rest of their leaguemates, making it less likely that their team would end up in… well, a porta potty.
“Baby Buck Gibbs”
Keep an eye on the Lions' impressive offense in this final game.
Jameel Gibbs may have had to deal with David Montgomery scoring short touchdowns on multiple occasions, but Gibbs was a player waiting to happen every time he touched the ball, and there's no doubt many fantasy managers are hoping to see Gibbs back in 2024 (no pun intended, but will we?).
