Indiana Pacers guard Andrew Nembard has agreed to a three-year, $59 million contract extension through the 2027-28 season, Todd Ramasar and Ja'afar Choufani of Life Sports Agency told ESPN on Wednesday morning.
Nembard, one of the breakout players of the 2024 Eastern Conference playoffs, agreed to the maximum amount he was allowed on a three-year contract. Sources said the Pacers will decline his $2.20 team option for the 2025-26 season to allow Nembard's new contract to start next year. Nembard became eligible to sign the contract on Monday.
Nembard has been a key contributor to the Pacers' development in his two NBA seasons since being drafted 31st overall out of Gonzaga University in 2022. Nembard, who played for Canada at the Paris Olympics, averaged 14.9 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 56 percent from the field in the Pacers' run to the conference finals and was an integral part of a deep and talented Pacers young guard corps that included All-NBA guards Tyrese Haliburton, Benedict Mathurin, Aaron Nesmith, Ben Shepard and veteran TJ McConnell.
Indiana beat the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks en route to the Eastern Conference finals, retained All-Star Pascal Siakam and forward Obi Toppin under new contracts and is in line to win a championship in 2024-25.
With Haliburton sidelined for Games 3 and 4 of the Conference Finals against the Celtics, Nembard averaged 28 points and 9.5 assists. He became just the fourth player to shoot 55 percent from the field and 45 percent from 3-point range in a single postseason game, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
Nembard's 48% 3-point shooting percentage in the 2024 playoffs was the best among players with at least 25 attempts, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
