COLORADO SPRINGS — The NCHC first round series started at 8:07 p.m. and ended at 8:07 of game time.
That happened Friday night when No. 10-ranked University of Colorado scored in sudden-death overtime to beat No. 12 Omaha University, 4-3.
UNO needs a win on Sunday night and could face a deciding game on Sunday. The Mavs also need to recover from losing a three-point lead.
The Mavericks scored three goals in nine minutes of the second period to take a 3-0 lead. Ty Mueller and Jack Randle won UNO's first points with a 21-second difference. Jacob Slipek then scored at 13:24 to make it 3-0.
However, the Tigers also scored three straight goals, with Noah Laba scoring with 50 seconds left to tie the game at 3-3. That was after the University of Colorado brought in goaltender Kaidan Mbeleko as an additional attacker.
