The 2024 Paris Olympics are set to kick off this week, and one of the many attendees Gators Nation will be keeping an eye on is Katie Ledecky, a volunteer assistant coach for the women's swimming team who has trained with the Gators in recent years.
Ledecky has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials and will compete in her fourth Olympic Games, becoming just the ninth U.S. swimmer to compete at least four times on swimming's biggest stage.
CBS Sports reporter Zachary Pereles commented on Ledecky's Olympic appearance.
“If Katie Ledecky has anything to say, the United States will remain at the top of world swimming. Ledecky has won 10 Olympic medals during her illustrious career, including two to tie her with Dara Torres, Jenny Thompson and Natalie Coughlin for the most by a female swimmer. Seven of Ledecky's 10 Olympic medals have been gold medals.”
“Ledecky is a long-distance specialist and absolutely dominates the 800 and 1,500 meters. She holds a top-10 world time in the 1,500 meters and will also play a key role on the U.S. relay teams.”
2024 Paris Olympics Coverage
