Jake Paul is taking a big risk this weekend fighting Mike Perry.
After a recurrence of a stomach ulcer forced Mike Tyson to postpone his July 20th boxing match, Paul decided to take on BKFC's “King of Violence.”
During his pre-fight press conference on Thursday, Paul revealed why he decided to take the risk and fight Perry instead of the huge payday for a bout with Tyson.
“This is my job. I'm here to fight. I love taking risks and taking part in big events. Mike Tyson called and I was worried that this fight would jeopardize the biggest fight of my career. It puts pressure on me, but I like it. I won't slow down for anyone. Mike Perry can't stop me. I'm on my way to being world champion. I won't slow down for anyone.”
: On my path to becoming a world champion, I'm going to keep getting experience under the bright lights in my own world. And that's the key, getting experience under the bright lights. And this is just an appetizer for Mike. Mike is just a warm-up, but at the end of the day, they're both killers. I've got to be sharp. He has that one-punch knockout power that I have to respect. But other than that, it's going to be easy.”
Despite many viewing Perry as a dangerous fighter, Paul believes fighting him would be an easy fight.
“He's unconventional, that's it. So for the first 30 seconds to a minute, I just have to get within range and get my timing right. That's it for the match. That's it, really.”
The Paul vs. Perry bout is scheduled to take place on DAZN PPV on Saturday, July 20th.
