BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) — Boxing star Ryan Garcia was indicted Thursday on charges he vandalized a Beverly Hills hotel last month, causing hundreds of dollars' worth of damage.
Garcia was charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property or criminal mischief exceeding $400 in damage, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said in a statement.

The 25-year-old man was arrested on June 8 after allegedly vandalizing the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, with the hotel estimating the damage was about $15,000, ESPN reported at the time.
“While we are pleased that no one was injured in this incident, reckless acts of property damage demonstrate a blatant and unacceptable disregard for the safety and peace of our community,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. “Our authorities will work hard to hold those responsible accountable.”

A second person, identified by the DA's office as Celeste Cardio, was also arrested after the incident, but her case was not prosecuted due to “insufficient evidence,” the DA's office said in a statement.
Garcia's attorney, Darin Chavez, said in a statement obtained by Eyewitness News the day after the arrest that the arrest comes at “an extremely difficult time for Ryan, as he grapples with devastating news regarding his mother's health.”
Last month, the New York State Athletic Commission suspended Garcia for one year after ruling that his April 20 win over Devin Haney was deemed invalid because he tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
Garcia is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, August 7. If convicted as charged, he faces up to one year in county jail.
