Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant posted to Instagram on Wednesday for the first time since 2023. The post included several different photos of Durant and has already garnered more than 300,000 likes. Durant has 13.4 million followers on Instagram, but only 11 posts on his feed. Instagram also limits comments, so Durant appears to only receive comments from people he follows.
One of the comments Durant received on his latest Instagram post came from Denver Nuggets forward Peyton Watson. In a message to Durant, the 2023 NBA champion responded to a watch that the Suns star featured in his Instagram post.
Watson played in 80 games for the Nuggets last season and was selected 30th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, giving him his first opportunity to slot into the rotation at the NBA level. It was a solid season for Watson, who showed off his defensive abilities but struggled with his shooting, shooting just 29.6% from three-point range, and that's definitely an area Watson will want to improve in next season.
Watson played in five playoff games during Denver's 2023 championship run, including three against Durant's Phoenix Suns.
Watson, a first-round draft pick out of UCLA, appeared in 32 games for the Bruins in 2021-22. Though he didn't show much offensive output in his lone collegiate season, Watson was drafted for his athleticism and defensive prowess. Denver is hoping Watson can develop into a 3-point shooter good enough to earn rotational playing time consistently throughout his career.
