Congratulations to Ariana Garcia and Madeline Jackson, both of La Vernia, who took home national championship titles at the AAU Taekwondo National Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida!
Both are students at Master Duncan's martial arts school in Floresville.
Aliana, 11, won first place in Creative Weapon Forms and Power Axe Kick Breaking, second place in Power Stomping Kick Breaking, and in the advanced ranks, third place in Traditional Forms, Repetitive Speed Hand Breaking (Feeder System), Repetitive Speed Hand Breaking (Human Hold) and Point Sparring.
This will be Ariana's second national championship, as she has also earned a spot in the 2023 AAU Taekwondo National Championships.
Madeline, 10, won national titles in continuous sparring and power breaking. She also placed second in point sparring, weapons and forms, and won a bronze medal in speed breaking. Rusty Duncan said she placed highly in every event she competed in at the competition.
This year's national championships brought more than 3,600 athletes from five countries to Florida to compete.
