- The Athletic's Aaron Portsline reports that the Columbus Blue Jackets and forward Kirill Marchenko Arbitration takes place on July 31. It was reported earlier this week that the Jackets and the 23-year-old Marchenko had discussed both short-term and long-term contracts, but at this point, it seems likely that Marchenko's next contract will be decided by an intermediary. Marchenko, a second-round draft pick in 2018, has recorded 44 goals and 23 assists in 137 NHL games over two seasons and reportedly sought a long-term contract this summer.
- The Hockey News' Max Miller recently retired Joe Pavelski Pavelski has spoken with the San Jose Sharks about a possible return to the organization he spent the first 13 years of his NHL career with. The 40-year-old Pavelski played 963 games with the Sharks before being traded to the Dallas Stars as a free agent in July 2019. Pavelski played five seasons with Dallas and had a big playoff run during his time with San Jose and Dallas, reaching the Stanley Cup Final with them, but ultimately did not win a Stanley Cup during his career.
