The men's hockey team won the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, breaking a 41-year medal-less streak for the team. Prior to that, India's last Olympic hockey medal was in 1980 in Moscow, when they beat Spain in a thrilling 4-3 match to win a record eighth gold medal.
In 2024, with a perfectly constructed squad of young, talented and experienced players, the Indian team will be looking to repeat its 1980 feat and once again aim for the podium.

Indian Hockey Team's Performance Since the Tokyo Olympics
Ever since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics ended, the Indian hockey team has been climbing the ranks with one impressive performance after another. They made it to the final of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham but unfortunately lost to Australia, finishing with the silver medal.
Following their Commonwealth success, the Indian hockey team continued to impress with good performances at the Asian Champions Trophy 2023 and the Asian Games, where the team won both events and remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.

However, in 2023 they had a slightly disappointing result, losing 5-3 to New Zealand in the FIH Hockey World Cup crossover.
The Indian hockey team going into the Paris Olympics will have huge expectations on their shoulders and will have to live up to them given the make-up of the team. Players like PR Sreejesh, Harmanpreet Singh and Manpreet Singh will be the names to watch out for in the tournament.
