ISE Labs Office (2201 Qume Drive, North San Jose) (ISE Labs)
SAN JOSE — Tech companies are opening new offices in San Jose, creating more jobs to counter the gloomy echoes of tech layoffs and space cuts in the Bay Area.
ISE Labs plans to hire hundreds of people at its new North San Jose office, the company announced today. The new office will be located at 2201 Qume Drive.
The company saw this as an opportunity to add new facilities as semiconductor manufacturing operations, which had long been based overseas, were increasingly returning to the United States.
“We are seeing increased demand for our proven engineering expertise,” said ISE Labs CEO Kenneth Hsian.
ISE Labs' new office and lab will be located in north San Jose and will employ approximately 200 people. ISE Labs already operates an existing facility in Fremont, which will remain in place when the new San Jose office opens.
“Expanding our operations by adding a second facility is essential to support our growing customer base,” Hsiang said.
ISE Labs employs about 200 people at its Fremont office at 46800 Bayside Parkway.
ISE Labs purchased the San Jose facility for $24 million in September 2023, documents filed with the Santa Clara County Register of Deeds showed. The office and lab buildings total 64,000 square feet.
“Ease of access to the South Bay was a key consideration in selecting the new site,” Cian said.
The company, a subsidiary of Taiwan-based semiconductor giant Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE), conducts tests to determine whether semiconductor devices are likely to fail.
“We are committed to investing in Silicon Valley,” said ASE CEO Tien Wu, “which will help reinvigorate the region's semiconductor industry position and support U.S. manufacturers more broadly.”
