Popular Southern California boxer Alexis Rocha, aka “Lex” (24-2, 16 KOs), is scheduled to face unbeaten powerhouse Santiago Dominguez, aka “Summer” (27-0, 20 KOs), from Ciudad Obregon, Mexico, in a 10-round welterweight bout with a weight limit of 147 pounds on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio.
The 27-year-old Alexis Rocha is ranked #11 by the WBC, #9 by the WBO, #9 by the IBF and #10 by The Ring in the welterweight division and boasts an impressive record of 24 wins, 2 losses and 0 draws, with 16 of those wins coming by knockout, while the 32-year-old Santiago is currently ranked #14 by the WBC and #11 by the WBO in the 147-pound division and boasts a solid record of 27 wins and 0 draws, with 20 of those wins coming by knockout.
“I'd like to thank Golden Boy, DAZN and the whole team for giving me another chance to headline the card,” Alexis said in a media report. “I've already proven that I can bounce back after a loss. Losses don't define me, what defines me is how I react to them. This next fight is another test to achieve my ultimate dream of becoming a world champion. I'm going for more knockouts for the fans,” he added. Analysis of the knockouts shows that Santiago has a slight power advantage over Rocha, with a knockout percentage of 74% compared to 67% for Rocha.
Rocha is five years younger than Santiago, two inches taller, and has the same reach. Not to mention, Rocha fights from a southpaw stance while Santiago fights from an orthodox position. Rocha seems to be the less experienced fighter in this situation, having fought one less bout, making his professional debut in 2016, a year and a half after Santiago's first professional fight in 2014. Rocha has fought 147 rounds in total as a pro, 31 more than Santiago's 116 rounds.
Rocha's last fight was on March 30, 2024, at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, USA, where he defeated Frederick Lawson by technical knockout in the seventh round.
Rocha's latest bout took place over a period of 1 year, 8 months and 20 days, with the fight lasting a total of 35 rounds, with an average of seven rounds, fought every four months and five days. Both boxers are scheduled to step into the ring at approximately 11pm ET/8pm PT at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.
