Rose Namajunas continues to make strides in the flyweight division.
“The Thug” Rose earned her second 125-pound victory inside the Octagon on Saturday night, defeating Tracy Cortez via five-round decision in the main event of UFC on ESPN 59 at Ball Arena in Denver. Namajunas knocked down her last-minute opponent in the first round and then cruised on from there, toying with Cortez with a combination of crisp striking and well-timed takedowns. After losing her flyweight debut to Manon Fioro, the 32-year-old has won back-to-back bouts over Cortez and Amanda Rivas. The former strawweight champion has her sights set on another title belt as her next goal, and may be looking to compete at a higher level. For now, Namajunas remains at No. 10 in the Sherdog division rankings.
In breaking news, #10 ranked Jessica Correa Delboni and #15 ranked Miki Motono have been removed from the atomweight ballot due to a lack of activity in the division, with Shooto champion Chihiro Sawada and Combate Global talent Anastasia Nikolakakos chosen in their place.
