Cambridge, Massachusetts – The Harvard University men’s ice hockey team today announced its schedule for the 2024-25 academic year. The 29-game schedule includes 22 games in the ECAC, 12 games at the Bright Landry Hockey Center and a trip to Belfast, Northern Ireland for the Friendship Four over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Harvard University will host its third annual Hockeytoberfest on Thursday, Oct. 3, transforming the Bright Laundry into an interactive, hockey-filled arena and offering a chance to meet Harvard University hockey coaches and staff.
The Crimson will play two preseason games against the U.S. National Team Development Program (NTDP) in an exhibition match at Brighton on Oct. 18, then have a scrimmage against Boston University on Oct. 19.
The Crimson will open the 24-25 season on home ice against Ivy League rival Dartmouth on Friday, Nov. 3, before traveling south the following weekend to take on Princeton and Quinnipiac on their first road trip of the season.
Coming off six consecutive ECAC matchups, Harvard will host Colgate and Cornell on the weekend of November 15 and 16. One of the biggest nights of the year at Bright Laundry, Cornell vs. Harvard, will mark the first meeting between these two Ivy League rivals since last season's ECAC quarterfinals.
To kick off a busy week, Harvard travels west to play its first non-conference game against UMass in Amherst on Nov. 22. The Crimson faced the nationally ranked Minutemen at Brighton Laundry over Thanksgiving break last season and narrowly lost in a thrilling 6-5 game.
Harvard will then head to Europe for the first time in program history to participate in the 2024 Friendship Four in Belfast. The week-long trip will conclude with two games at the SSE Arena Belfast, with the Crimson facing Notre Dame in the first game and either Boston University or Merrimack College of Northern Ireland in the final game.
Returning home with two games before the Christmas break, the Crimson will host Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Dec. 6 and 7 for their sixth consecutive home game at Bright Laundry. Harvard will host the annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday against the Saints.
Harvard will be back in action on New Year's Day against Quinnipiac University before taking on another Connecticut school, which will face the Crimson University on Saturday in its second non-conference game of the season, after visiting Storrs on New Year's Eve last season in a nationally televised game.
The Brown and Yale games will be ECAC return matches before the Crimson depart on a five-game road trip, with both teams wrapping up a six-game homestand in Cambridge. But before they leave on the road, Harvard will host Harvard Law School on Friday against Brown and honor former Harvard head coach Bill Cleary on Saturday against Yale.
Following the weekend's home festivities, Harvard will travel to nearby Chestnut Hill for a midweek game against Boston College on Jan. 14, before traveling to RPI and Union for a weekend series in the Capitol District.
Next weekend the Crimson will head to Lina and the Class of 1965 Arena for some final tweaks before returning to Bright in time for Beanpot season.
The Crimson will kick off Beanpot Week with a game against Princeton on Friday, Jan. 31, before moving on to face Boston College in the first round of the '72 Tournament.and The annual Dunkin' Beanpot vs Princeton match will be #OneCrimson / Slapshot night at Bright.
After one weekend game at Dartmouth (February 7), Harvard will move on to the second round of the Beanpot next Monday against either Boston College or Northeastern University, with the second round taking place at TD Garden.
With three weeks remaining in the regular season, Harvard will travel to the North Country to take on St. Lawrence University and Clarkson University before returning home for its final two regular season games at home.
Union and RPI will come to Bright on Feb. 21 and 22. The Crimson will honor military and first responders on Friday and then face RPI on Senior Night on Saturday.
Harvard will close out the regular season next weekend with trips to Yale and Brown.
One of the youngest teams in the country, the Crimson fought all through the 23-24 season to earn home ice in the first round of the ECAC playoffs. After winning at least one round every season since the 2013-14 season, the Crimson fell to the eventual ECAC champions, Cornell Big Red, after two very close games in Ithaca, New York.
Harvard returns most of its key players from last season and will be looking to build on a successful season with its core players. Ian Moore, Zachary Culpa, Joe Miller, Ryan Healy, Jack Barand Ak Koskenvuo He is expected to return to the Crimson next season.
