BTS' Jin participated in the Paris Olympic Torch Relay as South Korea's official representative. Check out the relay video below.
K-pop idol Jin was one of 11,000 torchbearers selected for this year's Olympics, and his relay took place yesterday (July 14th). Jin led the relay at the Louvre Museum in Paris, starting at around 8pm local time.
Under police escort, Jin picked up the torch on nearby Rue de Rivoli, then walked 200 metres to the museum before returning it to the Louvre's Torch Relay Centre.
“I am very honored to be able to take part in today's torch relay. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to ARMY and all my fans for giving me the opportunity to carry the torch,” Jin said about the experience in a press statement released by Big Hit Music. Yonhap News.
The torch relay across France has been running for two months since it started in Marseille on May 8. The Olympic flame will travel around famous landmarks in the capital and pass through various other French provinces before returning to Paris for the Olympics opening ceremony on July 26.
Last month, Jin became the first member of BTS to complete his military service. To celebrate his discharge, the boy band reunited for a private celebration at HYBE headquarters in Seoul.
A few days after his discharge, Jin held a fan meeting in Seoul to celebrate the boy band's 11th anniversary as part of their annual “Festa” festival. During the event, Jin surprised fans by performing an unreleased extended version of his solo song “Super Tuna.”
