One Seminole who transferred from Florida State in January will return to Tallahassee to continue his collegiate career, but not in garnet and gold.
Redshirt freshman wide receiver Goldie Lawrence entered the portal earlier this year after spending one season at Florida State. He initially enrolled at UCF, which is closer to his hometown of Sanford, Fla. Lawrence went through spring practice with the Knights before deciding to transfer again.
After receiving interest from several programs and visiting Arkansas State, Lawrence announced he will transfer to FAMU for the 2024 season. He'll be back in familiar surroundings and have a chance to play a big role for the Rattlers, replacing their three most productive wide receivers from last season.
Lawrence was redshirted after playing one game and not recording any statistics at Florida State. He spent most of his time developing and learning behind an elite wide receiver unit that included Johnny Wilson and Keion Coleman. Fellow #Tribe23 signee Hykeem Williams is the only wide receiver from this class still on the roster. Lawrence and Vandrevious Jacobs both left the team this offseason.

Lawrence, a three-star prospect in the class of 2023, caught 92 passes for 1,495 yards and 21 touchdowns while also rushing for 139 yards and nine touchdowns during his high school career at Seminole High School. He has four more seasons of eligibility remaining.
Florida State added Alabama transfer Malik Benson and Louisiana State transfer Jaylen Brown to its wide receiver corps earlier this year. The Seminoles also added four-star recruit Elijah Moore, four-star recruit LaWayne McCoy, four-star recruit Camdon Fryer and four-star recruit B.J. Gibson in the spring. The position currently has 12 scholarship players on the roster, although sophomore Destin Hill is expected to miss the year after suffering an injury a few months ago.
Lawrence joins a duo of former Seminoles on FAMU's roster, led by current head coach and former FSU cornerback James Colzie III: offensive tackle Jalen Goss (class of 2018), cornerback DeMorey Tate (class of 2020), tight end Coby Gross (class of 2021) and offensive lineman Christopher Williams (class of 2021, walk-on). Running back Rodney Hill (Arkansas) and offensive lineman Ke'Shawn Sapp (SMU) both committed to the Rattlers before ultimately transferring to other teams.
The Seminoles are quarterback Tate Roadmaker (Southern Miss), quarterback AJ Duffy (San Diego State), running back Rodney Hill (University of Arkansas), running back CJ Campbell (FAU), wide receiver Goldie Lawrence (FAMU), tight end Marqueston Douglas (Arizona State), tight end Preston Daniel (University of Miami), offensive lineman Thomas Schrader (Appalachian State), offensive lineman Bress Harris (TCU), offensive lineman Gregory G. Wilson (TCU), and offensive lineman Gregory H. Wilson (TCU). Lineman Daughtry Richardson (FAU), offensive lineman Cate Sapp (SMU), defensive end Gilber Edmonds (University of South Carolina), defensive lineman Dennis Briggs (University of Illinois), defensive tackle Malcolm Ray (Rutgers University), defensive tackle Ayobami Tifasu (University of Charlotte), linebacker Dylan Brown Turner (UTEP) and kicker Tyler Keltner (University of Oklahoma) entered the portal during the winter transfer portal period, which closed on Jan. 4.
Only three players left the team during the 15-day transfer portal period in the spring: wide receiver Vandrevious Jacobs (University of South Carolina), wide receiver Joshua Burrell (Furman University) and cornerback Greedy Vance Jr. (University of Southern California).
