Purdue University has become the latest university to receive a jersey refresh courtesy of Nike.
The Boilermarkers unveiled their uniforms on Thursday for the upcoming release of EA Sports College Football 25. The set includes a black home jersey with gold and white stripes on the sleeves and pants, and a white road jersey with black and gold stripes.
You wouldn't be wrong if this design looks familiar: Iowa State, Baylor and Minnesota all got new uniforms from Nike this offseason, and they're all similar to the one Purdue will wear.
If that weren't the case, the Boilermarkers jerseys might have been received a little differently.
The stripes evoke the glory days of Joe Tiller and Drew Brees, and the school wore a throwback uniform from that era last season, satisfying nostalgia for the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Fans likely still have questions after Thursday's announcement, since only two uniform sets were made public. The inclusion of a gold jersey top seems plausible, given the color's use in the past, as well as black pants that will complete the monochrome home look on select days.
Purdue is entering its second year under coach Ryan Walters. The Boilermarks went 4-8 in 2023, but it could be a similarly tough challenge for Walters and his staff.
The Big Ten became a stronger conference with the additions of Oregon, USC Washington and UCLA. Purdue also lost some replacements, including receiver Deion Burks, sack leader Nick Skorton and running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.
The team will open against Indiana State on Aug. 31 before hosting Notre Dame on Sept. 14. That game will be a barometer of whether this will be another season West Lafayette will want to forget.
