2K Sports has announced NBA 2K25 and, for the first time, one edition of the game will feature both NBA and WNBA stars on the cover. Recent champion Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics will appear on the cover next to back-to-back WNBA champion A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces. The two will appear together on the cover of the NBA 2K25 All-Star Edition ($100).
Each athlete will also star in a specific version of the game: Tatum will be on the cover of the Standard Edition ($70, or $60 on Switch), while Wilson will be on the cover of the WNBA Edition ($70, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only), which will be exclusive to GameStop and only available in North America.
NBA 2K25 will feature Hall of Famer Vince Carter as its third cover star. Carter will grace the cover of the NBA 2K25 Hall of Fame Edition ($150, available only until September 8th, not available on Switch). All versions of the game will launch on September 6th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch.
2K Sports has announced that they are giving fans something they have been waiting for: bringing the PC version on par with the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. For the past few years, PC players have played a version of the game that was on par with the previous generation of consoles, but many have expressed dissatisfaction with this. With NBA 2K25, PC users will still need a powerful rig to get the most out of the game, but PC users will no longer be denied features.
New for this year, 2K Sports is promising “the most realistic basketball experience ever,” with gameplay being “enhanced” by the so-called ProPlayTM technology. MyCareer and MyTeam modes will return, and the new generation of players will have access to special features such as a more “interactive” social hub called City and the sixth generation of MyNBA.
Finally, 2K revealed that NBA 2K25 will support cross-play but will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, not on previous generation consoles, PC, or Switch. No gameplay footage of NBA 2K25 has been released yet, but be sure to stay tuned to GameSpot for the latest updates.
