The Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns are engaged in a heated free agent battle for the talents of the six-time All-Star and impactful bench player, according to a new report.
It was a very busy week for the Philadelphia 76ers, who entered the summer with the second-most cap space in the league and a lot of speculation about how to spend that money.

As soon as free agency began, the team signed future Hall of Famer Paul George to a max contract, re-signed talented backup swingman Kelly Oubre Jr. and added Miami Heat sixth man Caleb Martin. But new reports suggest the team isn't done with its summer spending spree, as it's competing with the Phoenix Suns for the same veteran player.
On Wednesday, Suns reporter Gerard Bourguet reported that “Kyle Lowry is still playing.” [for Phoenix] The two sides are still in discussions, but he may end up returning to Philadelphia.”

In a follow-up post on his former Twitter handle X, Bourguet maintained that the organization would have no problem with Monte Morris getting the majority of playing time off the bench at point guard in 2023-24, even if the Suns lose the free-agent battle to acquire the 18-year veteran.
The former NBA champion has very much established himself as an impact reserve player since leaving the Toronto Raptors at the end of the 2020-21 season. He was a key part of the Miami Heat's Finals run two years ago and was a prominent part of Nick Nurse's starting rotation with the Philadelphia 76ers last season.
