Paddy Pimblett doesn't think Bobby Green will fight him on the ground at UFC 304.
Pimbret (21-3 MMA, 5-0 UFC) will face Green (32-15-1 MMA, 13-10-1 UFC) on the main card of Co-op Live's event in Manchester, England on July 27 (ESPN+ pay-per-view).
Pimblett recalled hearing Green say he couldn't submit, and “The Buddy” challenged him to prove that theory inside the Octagon.
“It makes me laugh because Bobby keeps saying, 'Paddy talked about me first,'” Pimblett said on his YouTube channel. “Hey, someone reminded me of this yesterday. Remember when I was in San Diego with my wife and you were sitting two rows behind me? You were making an Instagram Live video of the back of my head and you were saying bad things about me. You didn't have the nerve to come up to me and not say anything to my face. So who was talking about who first? Definitely not me. You were talking about me in 2021, 2022.”
“But I also saw last week that he said, 'I can knock anybody out with a lucky punch, but Paddy, you say you can submit me. You can't submit me.' So come and grapple me, boy. Keep your promise. We both know you can strike even if you don't have the strength. We both know I can trade punches with you and you can get knocked out. Come and grapple me. Let's see if you have the guts to come and grapple me after I tell you I can't submit you.”
Nine of Pimblett's professional wins have come by submission, including consecutive wins over Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt at UFC, while Green also has nine submission wins, most recently beating Tony Ferguson via arm triangle choke at UFC 291.
