Daniel Wiffen As the Irish Olympic team arrived in Antalya, Turkey to start their Olympic training camp, he vlogged about the trip.
Ireland will send their largest ever Olympic swimming team to Paris, consisting of 12 swimmers – six men and six women.
During the training camp session, Wiffen said he completed 30 100-meter best averages and achieved personal best times within that set, but did not disclose specific times.
Wiffen is riding high on momentum after becoming Ireland's first world swimming champion when he won the 800m freestyle and 1500m freestyle at the 2024 World Championships in February.
He also holds the world record in the short-course 800-meter freestyle, which he set in December.
Wiffen became the first Irish man to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming.
Wiffen will also compete in the 10km open water race in Paris, taking advantage of a new World Aquatics rule: any swimmer who achieves an Olympic Qualifying Time (OQT) or FINA A-cut in the 800m or 1,500m freestyle and competes in those events at the Olympics can also compete in the 10km open water race, as long as they do not exceed the limit of two swimmers per home nation.
