As the launch of EA CFB 25 draws closer, EA Sports has begun to reveal important information regarding the gameplay and ratings of the highly anticipated video game. The gameplay reveal posted on Monday revealed that Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers will be rated 92, which might be a bit lower than many fans were expecting.

In addition to his 92 rating, Ewers also has speed of 81, broken sacks of 68, and throws under pressure of 90. Though not known for his speed, Ewers is rated highly here given how important speed is when using a quarterback. Ewers may not be the best at avoiding sacks, but his overall rating and statistics under pressure make him one of the best quarterbacks to use in the game on July 19th.
Now, the question is, who is better at the position than Ewers? Among Power 4 returning quarterbacks, only Georgia's Carson Beck and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel have more passing yards than Ewers in 2023.
Using the adjusted yards per pass attempt statistic, which is used to measure a quarterback's effectiveness per dropback, Ewers ranks behind players such as Alabama's Jalen Milroe, Mississippi's Jackson Dart, Syracuse's Kyle McCord and Missouri's Brady Cook.
His rating of 92 in EA's Madden NFL 24 puts him roughly in line with the fourth-highest-rated quarterback, Josh Allen, who was fourth in the NFL in passing yards in 2023. By those metrics, we can expect to see two to four players rated higher than Ewers in the new game.
Beck seems like a sure bet, and Gabriel would make sense, but compared to those two, it's safe to say Ewers is a better passer than anyone in the country. No matter what position he ends up at, Ewers is going to be one of the best pocket passers in the game, and his 92 rating should provide Texas fans with a talented player who is set to enter a dynasty-mode career.
