WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A former Mount Tabor High School football star has chosen where he will play college football.
Jaydon Blair just finished his junior season at Mount Tabor and plans to enroll at Notre Dame in 2025.
Blair announced his involvement with the Fighting Irish on Friday.
“I’m heading to Notre Dame, that was the place for me just because of the relationships and how consistent they were throughout the whole process. Blair told 247Sports. I know football is going to be there, but the relationship I've had with them for almost two years and the way they've scouted me is unmatched to me.”
Blair also seriously considered offers from Penn State and the University of Michigan.
“Right behind Notre Dame were Penn State and Michigan,” Blair said, “Notre Dame, obviously, but those two great programs also did a great job recruiting me. Notre Dame was at the top for me.”
Blair is currently ranked as the 13th best safety in the country and the 160th best player in the 2025 class. From 247SportsHe is the fifth-ranked player in the state of North Carolina and a four-star recruit.
Blair played free safety during his junior season and recorded 56 total tackles and four interceptions. According to MaxPrepsHe recorded three tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Blair showed off his ball-winning skills in a Nov. 10, 2023, game against Mooresville High School.
Blair's athletic ability was also on display when he caught a long touchdown pass on Nov. 3, 2023, against Davie County High School.
Blair says he plans to bring his magnetic personality, both on and off the field, to Notre Dame.
“I put smiles on people's faces. I love bringing joy. I bring smiles and laughter to people,” Blair says. “I'm not the funniest guy, but when you're around me, we have great conversations. I talk to you as if it's normal and we've known each other for a long time.”
Blair is currently the sixth-highest rated player in Notre Dame's 2025 recruiting class.
