BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The University of Alabama at Birmingham men's soccer program released its 2024 schedule on Wednesday as it enters its first season under head coach David Lilly.
The Blazers will play three exhibition games before opening the regular season against two-time national champion North Carolina on Aug. 22. They will also host Georgia State on Aug. 27 and Northern Kentucky University on Sept. 1 at PNC Field.
UAB opens American Athletic Conference play against Florida Atlantic in Birmingham on Sept. 21. The Green and White will travel to a non-conference game against Louisville on Sept. 24.
“We are pleased to announce our 2024 schedule,” Lilly said in a statement. “We look forward to playing a rigorous non-conference schedule as we prepare for the challenges ahead in the AAC.”
Lilly comes to the Magic City after playing the same position at East Tennessee State University the past two years as the Buccaneers finished first in the Southern Conference last season, with the team leading the conference with 1.47 points allowed and a 0.755 goals allowed average per game, the latter of which ranked 10th nationally.
UAB is 0-11-4 overall and 0-7-1 against conference opponents in 2023. 2024 will mark the men's soccer program's third season competing in the AAC.
