Belfast's Woodvale Festival returns this weekend with its first outdoor boxing event.
Woodvale Park will also host its first boxing event in 80 years, pitting Scottish fighters against local boxers.
The festival will take place in the western part of the city from July 7th to July 11th.
Other events include “Club Nation,” a music night featuring artists such as Basshunter, Micky Modelle and Ultrabeat.
DJ Mark McCabe of Maniac 2000 will take to the stage for an '80s vs. '90s night on July 9, while the festival's final event on July 11 will feature a parade, bonfire and fireworks.
Free tickets will be offered to households in the Woodvale Park area.
“Important to the community”
One of the organisers, Alfie McCrory, said festival organisers wanted to “make the festival great for everyone”.
“It's also being used as a diversionary event to keep young people away from the interface,” he said.
Mr McCrory added that the outdoor boxing was part of a festival “to try new things”.
“This festival is important to the area. People from the area had to travel far to attend events like this. Now we're bringing celebrities to the area.”
Local DJ Mickey Modell told BBC News NI that he has been involved “from the beginning”.
“I thought it was a really good thing. It's a really great thing for the area,” he said.
“It's open to everyone. It doesn't matter where you're from, your religion, the color of your skin or anything like that.”
“We left all that outside the door. We're just here to have a good time.”
He said he helps organise club nights.
“We’ve been clubbing here since day one and it’s always been kind of a flagship night.
“This year we'll have international artists like Basshunter performing, but in the past we've had everyone from Sash to DJ Sammy to Cascada.”
He added: “I love playing here because I'm the only person from Northern Ireland playing the club shows and it's my home town.”
“It's really nice to see people come out and support us.”
