Four and a half years after their first bout inside the Octagon, the UFC rivals will once again square off in the boxing ring, this time in a 10-round light heavyweight bout.
When the two last collided in the main event of UFC 244 in New York in November 2019, Masvidal emerged victorious and captured the inaugural BMF (Bad Motherfucker) title after the cageside doctor controversially called a halt to the fight after the third round due to Diaz's bleeding from a cut around his eye.
The win was a stoppage victory for Masvidal, but he then suffered back-to-back losses to Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington and Gilbert Burns, and it turned out to be his final fight with the UFC.
He announced his retirement from combat sports following his loss at UFC 287 in April 2023, but appeared to reverse that decision earlier this year.
Masvidal's only previous professional boxing bout was when he beat Joseph Benjamin on found-round points in Miami nearly 20 years ago.
Diaz vs Masvidal date, start time, venue and ring walk
Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal was originally scheduled to take place on June 1, but was moved to Saturday, July 6, 2024 due to conflicts with the inaugural Matchroom vs. Queensberry five-on-five boxing card in Saudi Arabia and UFC 302, which will feature Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier as the main event.
It was moved from the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California to the Honda Center in Anaheim.
The undercard is scheduled to get underway in the early hours of Sunday morning, around 2am BST, with the ring walk for the main event not expected to take place until around 5am. As always, these times are subject to change.
