The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed forward. Jason Pollin He signed a one-year contract through the 2024-25 season.
Porin, Polin, 25, completed his first full season with the Colorado Eagles in 2023-24, earning 10 points (4 goals/6 assists) in 42 games. He was tied for fourth in points among Eagles rookies and fourth in assists among Colorado's first-year skaters. Polin was called up to the Avalanche and made his NHL debut on January 8, 2024. He appeared in seven games with the club and scored his first goal on January 16 at Ottawa.
A native of Holt, Michigan, Pollin has appeared in 49 AHL regular season games from 2022-2024, recording 11 points (four goals/seven assists) and six postseason games with the Eagles over two seasons. Pollin originally signed with Colorado as a college free agent on March 29, 2023.
Prior to turning professional, Pollin attended Western Michigan University from 2019-2023, where he recorded 96 points (60 goals/36 assists) in 132 games. During his senior year, where he was team captain, he set a National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) record with 30 goals, the most among NCAA skaters. He totaled 47 points (30 goals/17), was second on the team in scoring, tied for first in power play goals (6) and recorded five hat tricks. Pollin was named the NCHC Player of the Year and was also a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in college hockey.
The 6-foot-1, 198-pound forward played in 157 USHL games with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders from 2016-2019, collecting 84 points (50 goals, 34 assists) from 2016-2019. He served as an alternate captain in his final season in 2018-2019 and finished tied for seventh in the league in goals with 50 points (30 goals, 20 assists). Pollin appeared in six USHL postseason games in 2019, collecting nine points (5 goals, 4 assists), ranking first on the team in both goals and points.
