Another player selected in the top 10 of the 2024 NHL Draft has signed an entry-level contract, the Anaheim Ducks announced, with the team agreeing to terms on the deal. Beckett SennekeThe Toronto, Ontario native was selected third overall by the Ducks in last week's draft.
According to CapFriendly, the contract comes with an NHL-level base salary of $875,000 plus a signing bonus of $97,500 per year and an additional $1 million in performance bonuses per year. With the performance bonuses and signing bonuses that come with the contract, Senneke could be making $19.75 million per year on his entry-level contract.
Seneke is one of the late draft picks who had an outstanding performance in last year's Ontario Hockey League playoffs. The young forward recorded 27 goals and 68 points in 63 regular season games with the Oshawa Generals, followed by an impressive 10 goals and 22 points in 16 postseason games. Seneke not only led the Generals in goals and points through the 2024 OHL playoffs, but also led the entire league.
The No. 3 overall pick is a long shot, but the Ducks would still be acquiring a tremendous talent, as Senneke has mature awareness and puck-handling ability for his age and should help Anaheim on both sides of the puck.
Besides Senneke, the Ducks also signed the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. Stian SolbergThe team announced that Solberg had renewed his entry-level contract after playing last season for Vallerenga in the Eliteserien, Norway's top professional league.
Solberg recorded five goals and 15 points in 42 games against other professionals, giving him a +2 rating. Solberg also had an impressive postseason performance, recording two goals and nine points in 17 games, the fourth-most points scored by a defenseman under the age of 18 in the regular season.
Solberg is expected to play next season for Färjestad BK in the Swedish Hockey League, a club with a history of producing NHL-caliber defensemen, including Fredrik Olausson, Jonas Brodin and Oliver Killington, all of whom hail from the 91-year-old Swedish franchise.
