It might be a good idea to keep some fireworks on hand just in case.
The University of Missouri football team is wrapping up its recruiting for the Class of 2025, and the Tigers could be closer to finalizing their next group as soon as next week.
Four players targeted by the University of Missouri are set to announce their college intentions within the next seven days, including two four-star wide receivers and one top-tier safety.
The Tigers currently have 12 players committed to the class of 2025. The cycle began in April with the signing of top-ranked Pennsylvania-based quarterback Matt Zollars (a four- or five-star prospect, depending on which recruiting service you choose), and since then, the numbers have started to flow… and from all over the world.
Three players are expected to attend from within Missouri state lines, including the top overall player, four-star offensive tackle Jack Lang from Eureka, and two players ranked among the top 15 players in the state of Missouri. The university has verbally signed players from eight states and has faced stiff competition from big-name schools to sign them.
Overall, the Tigers are currently ranked 35th in the country and 12th in the expanded 16-team SEC, according to recruiting service 247Sports.
Depending on how things go next week, a significant increase is expected.
Here are four players who will announce their college destinations between Thursday, July 4 and Wednesday, July 10. All recruiting rankings are based on the 247Sports composite rankings unless otherwise specified.
Jayvan Boggs, wide receiver
Commitment time: Thursday, July 4th at 5pm CST
Recruitment Ranking: Ranked 211th nationally and 24th among wide receivers.
While kids were grilling on the 4th and the first fireworks were sizzling, Missouri fans took a brief break from the Fourth of July celebrations at 5 p.m. to watch Jayvan Boggs' a live commitment stream with recruiting service Rivals;
After missing out on four-star in-state wide receiver Corey Sims on Sunday, a series of scouting projections seems to indicate the Tigers aren't going to sit idly by and watch as they miss out on two playmakers in the space of a week.
Between Rivals and On3, all three publications that keep track of projections currently expect Boggs to land at MU.
Boggs, who was originally committed to Ohio State, began recruiting again in March, taking official visits to the University of Missouri, University of California, San Francisco, University of Georgia and University of Southern California, before narrowing his options down to just Missouri and University of California, San Francisco, near his high school.
Missouri currently has just one wide receiver committed for the class of 2025: Sean Terry, a three-star recruit from Ironton, Ohio.
more:Introducing “huge” Chris McClellan, the University of Missouri football team's new defensive tackle.
Donovan Olugbode, wide receiver
Commitment time: Friday, July 5th, 3pm CST
Recruitment Ranking: Ranked 86th nationally and 11th among wide receivers.
The four-star wide receiver from Naperville, Illinois, is currently playing nationally-caliber high school football at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. And, like Boggs, Olugbode has picked up on some of the recruiting analysts' projections that favor Drinkwitz's Tigers.
Of the three major recruiting services, all six publishers who called predicted Orugbode would land in Missouri.
If Olugbode commits to play at Columbia, it could be one of the highlights of this recruiting season for Missouri, which is competing with USC, Washington, Oregon and Florida for the top 100 prospect.
For Missouri and Zollars, the gunslinger of the future, it's a chance to land two playmakers on back-to-back days, with Olugbode set to announce his commitment live on 247Sports.
Offensive lineman Keaton Jones
Commitment time: Sunday, July 7th at 3pm CST
Recruitment Ranking: Ranked 545th nationally and 35th among interior offensive linemen.
Coffeyville, Kansas native Keaton Jones appears to have narrowed his field down to just three schools from the area, with Missouri facing a tough battle with Kansas State and Arkansas for the 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive lineman.
Missouri is still in the running to land four-star offensive lineman Lamont Rogers, who is expected to sign later this month, but that run appears to be moving away from the Tigers.
The Tigers have in-state recruit Lange and three-star forward Henry Fenuk from Fort Worth, Texas, on the offensive line. Three On3 prognosticators and one Rivals publisher are on record predicting Jones will join the team in Columbia next year, but so far no other projections have been made.
Charles Bass, Safety
Commitment time: Wednesday, July 10th (TBD)
Recruiting ranking (rivals): 97th nationally, 9th in safety
The Tribune used Rivals' rankings for Buss' position because, while 247Sports still lists him as an athlete, he's more likely to be recruited specifically as a safety.
Either way, this appears to be one of the more positive signs for Missouri, which is now joined by Arkansas, Illinois and Kansas State in a regional battle for Buss' commitment. While the in-state school appears to be the main contender to land the 6-foot-1 defensive back from East St. Louis, Missouri is coming out on top in most projections.
Bass could become the latest player to follow the Missouri-to-East St. Louis pipeline. Wide receivers Luther Baden III and current Georgia Bulldogs player Dominique Lovett each committed to the Tigers out of high school, while cornerback Toriano Pride Jr. transferred to the Tigers from Clemson this offseason.
