Bergman played for the Yellow Jackets from 2019-2022 and was a three-time All-American.
ATLANTA — One of Georgia Tech's most decorated volleyball alumni will have a chance to add another record to her career accomplishments at the Paris Olympics this summer.
Julia Bergmann was named to Brazil's Olympic team on Friday. Bergmann was a three-time All-American who played for the Yellow Jackets from 2019-2022.
Bergman's chances of winning a medal are good: Brazil heads to Paris as the world's No. 2-ranked volleyball team, according to the Polytechnic University athletics department, and is coming off a silver medal win at the Tokyo Olympics.

Bergman is the first Olympian in volleyball history, according to Tech University releases, and she is the Yellow Jackets' all-time leading scorer with 4.31 points per set.
The school statement added:
Bergman earned a spot on the 13-player roster after a strong showing in the Volleyball Nations League earlier this summer. She played in seven matches throughout the month-long tournament, recording 39 kills, 11 aces and five blocks. She proved to be a weapon from the serve line, recording four aces and 12 kills in her Week 3 match against Poland, which is part of why she performed so well in the tournament (26 kills, 10 aces in her final three VNL matches).
Brazil's first volleyball match in Paris will be against Kenya on July 29 at 7 a.m. ET (1 p.m. local time in France).
