Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Ryan Garcia's career is on the decline.
About two months ago, Garcia shocked the world by defeating Devin Haney (watch it here), erasing the champion's undefeated streak and delivering multiple brutal blows. It was a shocking moment, especially considering Garcia's erratic public behavior and apparent substance abuse issues. After the win, Garcia claimed it was all an act to earn the underdog role.
Maybe not.
Shortly after the win, Garcia tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug (PED) Ostarine. After careful consideration, Garcia accepted a one-year suspension and had his career-best win over Haney overturned as a “no contest.” Garcia also paid more than $1 million in fines and fees.
Now Garcia is facing more trouble. His social media behavior has always been unpredictable, but in the video above, Garcia can be heard using the N-word and identifying himself as a member of the Ku Klux Klan (via NYPost). This and other racist online comments led WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman to ban Garcia from the WBC.
“In my authority as WBC President, I am expelling Ryan Garcia from all activities with our organization. Our organization does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. I am concerned about Ryan's well-being as he has repeatedly refused our organization's assistance with his mental health and substance abuse issues. pic.twitter.com/pCIOH2am7B

“I will be exercising my authority as WBC President,” Sulaiman wrote on social media, “to ban Ryan Garcia from all WBC activities. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Ryan has repeatedly declined help for his mental health and substance abuse issues and we are concerned about his well-being.”
Garcia later wrote online that he was just “trolling,” but he continued to argue with strangers online and use derogatory language.
