Putian, China, July 3, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — On June 29-30, 2024, the highly anticipated Southern Shaolin Intangible Cultural Heritage Martial Arts Exchange Conference (hereinafter referred to as the Conference) was successfully held at the Southern Shaolin Temple in Jiulianshan, Licheng District, Putian City, Fujian Province, China.
The two-day event attracted 300 martial arts masters, inheritors and enthusiasts from 70 martial arts associations and organizations from Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong provinces, as well as Europe, America, East Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania, to witness the charm and greatness of Chinese martial arts.
During the conference, participants intensively discussed themes such as the history, characteristics, inheritance and development of Southern Shaolin martial arts through keynote speeches, presentations on martial arts preservation activities, opinion exchanges and discussions, and cultural heritage displays.
In addition, the conference featured the announcement of the achievements made by Putian South Shaolin Temple in protecting endangered martial arts styles, the launch of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Martial Arts Protection Initiative, and the signing of the Southern Shaolin Martial Arts Protection Treaty.
During the competition, well-known martial arts groups from home and abroad presented more than 80 martial arts styles, presenting a series of stunning visual feasts to the audience. The competition showcased the profound and unique charm of Southern Shaolin martial arts as an intangible cultural heritage, and promoted the exchanges between martial arts enthusiasts at home and abroad.
