Isaac 'Pitbull' Cruz defends WBA light welterweight champion during a virtual press conference to promote his bout on PBC at Amazon Prime PPV on March 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He labeled Rolando 'Laurie' Romero a “coward.”
Lowry claimed that Cruz was unable to replicate the way he fought with his sparring partners. Mr. Cruz countered that the vileness was easy to reproduce.
Romero vs. Cruz will face off on March 30th on a co-featured card featuring Keith Thurman vs. Tim Tzu. It remains to be seen whether either of these two fights will work out. Many believe that Lowry is a paper champion and a fake belt holder who lost the WBA world title to referee Tony Weeks.
Rory's Notes: More smoke than fire.
Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KOs) views Lowry (15-1, 13 KOs) as a flawed fighter who “doesn't like to fight” and that's been the case since he was ranked No. 140 in the WBA. This is the reason why they were inactive for 10 months. He won the LB title with a dubious victory over Ismael Barroso, who beat his career-best record last May.
Since then, Romero has sobered up without fighting. It screams “I’m scared of real battle.”
Rolando “Rolly” Romero: “He can't imitate me. I can imitate him,” Lowry said during a virtual press conference today. “I have a very unique style. I think my style is closely related to my personality.
“It's hard to find someone like me. Now, he can't replicate my power, he can't replicate my explosiveness, and he can't replicate my speed. You can't imitate anything like that. Like I said, find some sparring and do your best.”
Lowry kept moving throughout the fight with Barroso, with the 40-year-old cornering him every time he stopped. Pitbull Crews won't have a hard time replicating Rory's fighting style because it's purely evasive, and he's not the kind of guy who's going to brawl with him like Gervonta Davis.
Isaac 'Pitbull' Crews: “In fact, it's not difficult to find a sparring partner like him. A coward who doesn't like fighting by nature. You can find that anywhere.
