An investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) has led to a 39-year-old Calgary gym owner and taekwondo instructor being charged with kidnapping and child pornography, authorities said in a release Thursday.
Bradley Hutchison, known in some online spaces as Dan Chambers, is suspected of having sexually-charged online conversations with a 13-year-old girl, ALERT reported.
Police believe the conversations took place between 2017 and 2018.
“This individual was heavily involved in the martial arts community and was responsible for mentoring children and teens with special needs,” said Staff Sergeant Mark Auger of ALERT's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.
Hutchison's biography remained on the gym's website Thursday morning.
Hutchison was arrested on June 25 and his home and workplace were searched and several electronic devices were seized.
He is charged with child abduction and production, evaluation and possession of child pornography, with additional charges possible following investigation.
