William Cepeda is one of the top lightweight boxing contenders and will have a shot at a gold medal when he takes on Giovanni Cabrera on Saturday, July 6th in a bout that will be broadcast globally on DAZN in California.
Cepeda (30-0) is ranked No. 1 in the 135-pound weight class by the IBF, WBA, WBA and WBO. The 28-year-old Mexican fighter has won 26 bouts by knockout and has won three straight bouts with power punches.
Cabrera (22-1) trains with Freddie Roach, a relationship that culminated in the 29-year-old going head-to-head with Isaac Cruz last July. Although he lost the bout to “The Pit Bull,” a fighter of Cabrerra's calibre, he showed off a strong chin that Cepeda needs to step up a level.
