The four-time Grand Slam singles champion will be preparing to represent Japan in her second Olympic Games on July 26.
Following her disappointing early exit from Wimbledon, where she was defeated by American Emma Navarro, Naomi Osaka has quickly shifted her focus to the Paris Olympics.
The Japanese superstar, playing at the All England Club for the first time since 2019, lost her second-round match 6-4, 6-1 in less than an hour on Centre Court on Wednesday.
The first set was tied at 3-3 between the two players but the four-time Grand Slam champion found himself lost in his flow.
Osaka admitted she lacked confidence.
“To be honest, at first it felt like I was just trading games and for some reason I felt like I wasn't entirely confident,” she said.
“I just didn't feel like I was playing very well. I think those doubts started to affect my play a lot. And obviously the second set wasn't as good.”
Navarro, ranked 17th in the world, broke at love in the seventh game to take the first set.
She stepped up the pressure in the second set, breaking twice to take a 4-0 lead and repeating the feat to take the match.
Osaka defeated Diane Parry in her opening match on Monday to win Wimbledon for the first time since 2018.
She finally returned to the tour in January after giving birth to her now-one-year-old daughter, Shai, and is currently ranked 113th.
Osaka said she wasn't sure what her schedule would hold but that the Paris Olympics, which begin later this month, would be her priority.
She reached the third round at the 2021 Tokyo Games.
The tennis tournament in Paris is held on the clay courts of Roland Garros, where Osaka recently held a match point against eventual winner and world number one Iga Swiatek at the French Open.
“Since the Olympics finished so soon, I want to take my time to train for the Olympics because I want to do well,” she said.
“I know my last clay court match was really good, so maybe now I like clay a lot more than grass.”
“Schedule-wise, I'm not sure yet. I'll get home and see what Shai is up to and make a plan from there.”
