Two Louisiana State University seniors, Will Campbell and Harold Perkins, have been selected to the Walter Camp Preseason All-America Team, the university system announced Monday.
Campbell, a two-year starter at left tackle, was named to the first team, while Perkins was selected to the second team.
Last year, Louisiana State quarterback Jayden Daniels won the Walter Camp Player of the Year award and wide receiver Malik Neighbors was named to the first team.
Campbell enters his third season with the Tigers in 2024 and has established himself as one of the top offensive linemen in school history. Campbell has started every game he has played (26) and played every offensive snap in 15 of LSU's 17 games against SEC opponents.
Campbell earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2023 after earning second-team honors as a true freshman in 2022. He was named to the Freshman All-America team by the Football Writers Association of America in 2022 and was also selected to Freshman All-SEC.
Last year, Campbell played a key role in an LSU offensive line that led the nation in both scoring (45.5) and receiving yards (543.5) and produced a Heisman Trophy winner in Daniels. LSU's 2023 offensive line was one of three finalists for the Joe Moore Award, given annually to the top offensive line in college football.
During his two seasons with the Tigers, Campbell helped LSU average 39.8 points and 496.6 yards per game, leading the Tigers to 20 wins, including two bowl games.
Perkins, a New Orleans native, is one of the top playmaking linebackers in college football, recording 147 tackles, 26.0 tackles for loss and 13 sacks in his first two years with the Tigers.
Perkins was named All-SEC First Team in 2022 and All-Conference Second Team last year. He has also been named SEC Defensive Player of the Week twice and SEC Freshman of the Week once in his career. He was named Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week after recording eight tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles in Louisiana State's win over Arkansas in 2022.
Perkins earned Freshman All-America honors as a freshman and was named to the Freshman All-SEC team.
Off the field, both Perkins and Campbell are named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
