COLUMBUS, Ohio — The final schedule for the reigning women's ice hockey national champion Ohio State Buckeyes' 2024-25 season was released Wednesday.
Ohio State announced its non-conference schedule, which includes an away series against St. Lawrence University, a home-and-home game against Mercyhurst University and the women's Icebreaker Tournament in Columbus in late October.
The first of the newly announced games is an away series against St. Lawrence (Oct. 4-5). This will be the Buckeyes' third week of the 2024-25 season. They kicked off their calendar with matches against Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State in late September. The first game of the series will kick off at 6 p.m. in Canton, New York, with the second scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. The skating Saints will be a formidable opponent, as they reached the national quarterfinals in the 2023-24 season and ultimately lost to Wisconsin, 4-0.
The home game against Mercyhurst is scheduled for 6pm on Tuesday, October 22nd. This game is sandwiched between an away series against St. Cloud State University and a home tournament a few days later. The Buckeyes will return the favor with a game against Mercyhurst scheduled for 6pm on Monday, December 2nd in Erie, Pennsylvania.
This season, Ohio State will also host the 2024 Women's Icebreaker Tournament, which will take place at the OhioHealth Ice House on Oct. 25 and 26. The Buckeyes will face Stonehill in the semifinals on Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m., with Cornell and Penn State playing in the earlier games at 3:30 p.m. The final championship game will be played on Oct. 26 at 4:30 p.m., with the third-place game taking place that same day at 1 p.m.
Penn State, Cornell and Stonehill College will all be competing in the 2023-24 NCAA Tournament, so it should be a highly competitive event featuring teams from four different conferences (AHA, ECAC, NEWHA and WCHA).
