Tune in to this week's “Spinning Back Clique,” MMA Junkie's weekly live show covering the biggest topics in mixed martial arts.
This week's panel will see Brian “Gose” Garcia, Mike Vaughn and Farah Hanoun join host “Gorgeous” Jorge Garcia live at noon ET (9am PST) to discuss and debate the following topics:
- Alex Pereira defended his light heavyweight title for the second time, viciously knocking out Jiri Prochazka in a rematch that served as the main event of UFC 303. This was a major accomplishment not only for Pereira, but for MMA as a whole, given the magnitude of Pereira's accomplishment. Where does “Poitan” rank among the greatest fighters of all time? Should UFC allow him to move down to heavyweight? What does his future hold at light heavyweight? We debate.
- UFC 303 produced many other notable results. Diego Lopez defeated Dan Ige in the co-main event, a bout that took place during the event after Lopez's original opponent, Brian Ortega, withdrew due to illness. Ian Machado-Garry also won a close bout against Michael Page to remain undefeated. Other results included. Here are the key takeaways from UFC 303.
- It's been an interesting week for the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Most notably, they sanctioned and greenlit the Lopez vs. Ige fight just hours before it was to begin, an unprecedented move. They also sanctioned Arman Tsarukyan, who attacked a fan while leaving UFC 300, and Igor Severino, who was fired by the UFC for biting an opponent. What should we make of these decisions? Were they the right ones? Discuss.
- Finally, UFC 303 and the NAC ruling weren't the only things that happened last week. There were plenty of other interesting developments in the sport. Each panelist will highlight a storyline that stood out to them last week.
