Waterson, 38, retired from the Octagon (watch it here) and UFC CEO Dana Whitewas asked about the loss to the 45-year-old Arlovski during the UFC 303 post-fight press conference (watch it here) and revealed that the two will now go their separate ways.
“Yes, this is Andre's last game,” White told the media. “I don't know what the Cubs are going to do. Obviously, Smith is already part of the team and working here. I don't know.”
“We'll see what happens,” White added, “but you're all people that we really respect and care about, so we'll see what happens.”
White was criticized for announcing Arlovski's retirement (or firing) because the longtime UFC performer did not receive the same retirement package as Waterson, but Arlovski has fought 42 times inside the Octagon over two different stints and won the UFC heavyweight title in his first fight.
He finished his legendary run at UFC with a record of 23 wins, 18 losses and 1 draw, and while the last few years haven't been the most fun to watch, he put together one of the greatest first-round fights of all time. Travis BrownThat's how it goes sometimes.
