Plans to transform the former Dogs 4 Us pet shop at the rear of Bramley Shopping Centre into a fitness and martial arts studio have been approved by Leeds City Council.

Works include painting the exterior of the building black to enhance its appearance and better blend in with the surrounding area. The main entrance will be relocated to where the existing roller shutters are, to allow level access for wheelchair users. Internal refurbishment will include the construction of a stud wall to accommodate a reception area and changing rooms.
The development will also incorporate new EV charging points and cycle parking.

A report from city council planning officers who approved the plans stated: “The gym is conveniently located for pedestrians with a clear pathway leading directly to the entrance. There is dedicated on-site parking, providing easy access for those arriving by car.”
“The new proposals include the provision of disabled parking spaces immediately at the entrance, minimising journey distances for people with mobility issues. The gym can be accessed by multiple public transport routes, with bus stops close to the site.”
The proposal would not affect the pet grooming business next door.
