- Mayra Bueno Silva's bout was called off after a doctor examined her cut.
- She was torn apart by a severe elbow that reached down to the bone.
Brazilian fighter Maira Bueno Silva suffered one of the deadliest cuts in UFC history on Saturday night.
In the second round of her fight against Macy Chiasson at UFC 303, Silva was hit with a sharp elbow while her opponent was on the ground.
When blood began to flow it quickly became apparent how serious the wound was, but it took some time for the referee to intervene.
He stopped the fight in the second round to allow a doctor to enter the Octagon to assess the damage.
Silva's cut ran along his eyebrow line, was left hanging open and was reportedly deep enough to reach the bone.

Wisely, despite Silva's desire to continue, the fight was stopped and ruled a TKO victory for Chiasson.
Another blow to her wound would have made the situation much worse, and she would probably reflect in time that seeking immediate medical attention was the right decision.
It was a bitter end for the 33-year-old as she dominated the opening round but was fighting ferociously, landing heavy punches against her bantamweight opponent.
However, an elbow strike sealed her defeat and caused some disagreement in the commentary box as to whether the match should continue.
Joe Rogan suggested fighters should be allowed to continue if they want to, while former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier joked that his broadcast partner “just loves violence.”
The aftercare fighters receive is known to be of the highest standard and Silva will likely be stitched up quickly after being rushed away, but he will likely need several months of recovery before he is able to spar again.
