The owner of a martial arts club in Newbridge has applied for planning permission to open a new shop and training studio in the town.
Christopher Thomas, of Art of Combat Martial Arts Ltd, is hoping to open a new facility in part of The Estates Offices, at the junction of Fields Road and Gold Tops.
In documents submitted to Caerphilly County Borough Council, he said his club was “very well known, established and developed” in the local community.
According to the plans, Thomas wants to use part of the building as a sports shop during the day, selling merchandise such as uniforms, training equipment and other martial arts gear.
Another part of the building would become a studio for martial arts and education courses, according to the plans.
In council documents, Mr Thomas said he would run courses in “dispute resolution, conflict management and self-defence” for the public, private and corporate sectors.
The application is currently out for consultation and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website (reference number 24/0471/COU).
