Sha'Carey Richardson advanced to the next round in the 200 meters at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials.
Richardson took first place in the opening race of the women's 200m. She qualified for the next round with a season's best time of 21.99 seconds, the second-fastest time in the world this year. The top six athletes from each heat and the next three will advance to the semifinals.
Richardson qualified for the Paris Olympics by winning the 100 meters last Saturday. Her winning time of 10.71 was the fastest in the world this year. Although the 100 meters is Richardson's best event, she is expected to be selected for the U.S. team in the 200 meters.
