Dana White I'm excited about the future of boxing.
With UFC Saudi Arabia now over and a new partnership between the organization and Saudi Arabia underway, combat sports fans can look forward to bigger and better things at future events abroad.
Prior to the UFC-Saudi Arabia partnership, General Entertainment chairman Turki Arashikhas entered the boxing world and started making some of the biggest fights happen, and after their first event together, White had nothing but good things to say about Turki and is excited about the future of boxing with this involvement.
“I like him. He has a vision for a sport that's totally messed up,” White told Mac Life. “If you look at what he's accomplished in a short amount of time, it just goes to show you that boxing is so broken and messed up that it takes a guy with all that money and power to make something like this happen. So I think it'll be interesting to see what he accomplishes over the next few years.”
“You know me, I don't kiss anybody's ass for any reason,” he continued. “If I didn't feel that way or I didn't have those feelings for him, I'd let you know and I'd be completely honest about it. But I like the guy. I respect him. I love what he's done so far and I'm excited to see what he does next, actually. He's dealing with an incredible catastrophe and I love how he's dealing with it.”
White has never shied away from expressing his feelings about boxing and the promoters involved in it. Oscar De La Hoya He may be most notorious for receiving criticism from White. Bob Arum It's not safe. Arum, who has criticized White's past actions, pointed out some of the UFC CEO's mistakes when comparing him to the Saudi Arabian leader.
“We need a guy like Sheik Turki to fix this. He gives us fights that nobody can. It was a fun fight. It was a good fight,” White said about boxing and his recent fight. Tyson Fury versus Oleksandr Usyk match (watch highlights).
“With COVID-19, Bob Arum came out and said, 'This guy's an idiot and he's doing all this bullshit,' but look at how long Arum's been in the game? I respect the fact that he's in his 90s and he's still going. I mean, this guy flew to Saudi Arabia, went to England and did all this bullshit. You've got to respect that part of his game. But he thinks he's so smart. He thinks he's so intelligent. He's done literally nothing. He's made a living out of boxing, but at the end of the day, what does he have? Nothing. He's produced nothing. He's always just ripped money and never reinvested in this fucking sport. You could have made this better. You had no vision for the sport. You had nothing. Bob Arum, you're not as smart as you think you are.”
