After a two-day rest period, action resumes at Hayward Field on Thursday for Day 7 of the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials.
Thursday's schedule features the finals of the women's discus and the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. The sprinting stars will also compete in a number of qualifying events, from the semifinals of the men's 110-meter hurdles to the men's and women's 200 meters and the men's and women's 400-meter hurdles.

Men's High Jump Qualifiers: The bar is 7 feet 2 1/4 inches high, the second tallest in the competition, which started at 7 feet 0 1/4 inches. Nine competitors have cleared 7 feet 2 1/4 inches, including J'Vaughn Harrison and Shelby McEuen.
Women's 1,500m Round 1: Elise Clunie jumped out to the lead when the bell rang for the first heat, but was caught up at the last moment and finished fourth in 4 minutes 16.05 seconds. However, the top seven finishers from each of the three heats advanced, so she still managed to advance to the semifinals. Corey McGhee won her heat in 4:15.75, followed by Sage Herta-Klecker (4:15.90) and Nikki Hiltz (4:16.00). Completing the top seven were Maggie Congdon, Stephanie Brokaw and Allie Buchalski.
Women's Discus Final: In the women's discus final, Valerie Allman held the lead after the first round. Allman's first throw was 220 feet, 5 inches. Jayden Ulrich placed second with 202 feet, 10 inches, and Erica Beisl placed third with 201 feet, 4 inches. …In the second round, Allman improved her record with a throw of 223 feet, 4 inches. Ulrich maintained second place and Beisl remained in third place. …There was a false start in the third heat, but no one was blamed and the restart began. Danielle Roberts got off to a strong start and led the rest of the way to win in 13.11 seconds. …Veronica Fraley moved into second place in the women's discus with a throw of 205 feet, 2 inches. …Allman had her best throw to date in the fourth round with a throw of 228 feet, 9 inches. Ulrich moved into second place again with a throw of 205 feet, 5 inches. Fraley dropped to third, Shelby Frank took fourth place with a personal best of 201-11 and Beasle took fifth with 201-4.
Men's 110m Hurdles Semifinals: Grant Holloway again broke the 13-second mark in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 12.97 seconds. As he had done in the first round, Holloway outshone the other competitors and advanced to the finals. Also advancing from the first heat was runner-up Cordell Tinch, who finished in 13.19 seconds. The top two competitors from the three heats and the next three fastest overall will advance to the finals. … Freddie Crittenden ran well in the semifinal hurdles race, winning the second heat in 13.05 seconds. Ja’Quaron Scott also advanced to the finals with a time of 13.23 seconds. Trey Cunningham finished in 13.26 seconds and will have to hope that his time will get him to the finals. … Michael Dixon took second place in 13.19 seconds. One qualifier was made from each of the three heats. Cameron Murray (13.27) in the first heat, Trey Cunningham (13.26) in the second heat and De'Vion Wilson (13.23) in the final heat, which decided the nine spots in the 110 hurdles final.
Men's 800m Round 1: Thursday's action began with the men's 800-meter heats. In the first heat of the 800-meter heats, Bryce Hoppel and Hobbs Kessler crossed the finish line in a 1-2 fashion. Hoppel finished in 1:46.83, with Kessler close behind in 1:46.85. They both advanced automatically to the semifinals along with the other four runners from heat one: Wes Ferguson (1:47.08), Darius Kipyego (1:47.18), Charles Jones (1:47.31), and Cass Elliott (1:47.41). … In heat two, Sam Whitmarsh overtook early leader Darius Smallwood in the home straight to win in 1:46.13. Isaiah Harris was second in 1:46.14, followed by Camden Marshall in 1:46.33. Brannon Kidder placed fourth in 1:46.48, Sam Ellis (1:46.65) fifth, and Smallwood dropped to sixth (1:46.68), but still earned an automatic berth in the semifinals. …Clayton Murphy led the way in the final 100 meters and won heat three in 1:47.05. Brandon Miller was second in 1:47.10, and Jonah Koech was third in 1:47.26. The three runners who advanced to the semifinals were Eric Holt (1:47.28), Zephaniah Carrico-McLennan (1:48.39), and Josh Hoey (1:48.40). …Several runners finished in a group in heat four. Tinoda Matsatsa won in 1:46.73, followed closely by Abraham Alvarado in 1:46.76. Shane Cohen took third place in 1:46.83, followed by Isaiah Jewett in 1:46.84. Nick Plant took fifth place in 1:46.88 and Matt Wisner took sixth place in 1:46.95 to earn the final automatic qualifier spot. Benjamin Allen took seventh place but advanced to the semifinals with a time of 1:47.29. The other two qualifiers were Bobby Poynter (1:46.95) and Vincent Crisp (1:47.12) from the second heat.
